Our mission
Flourishing, resilient communities and ecosystems that restore the land on which we depend
Regenerate together
Our mission is to restore and strengthen the relationships that sustain life.
ABOCA verds works in response to ecological degradation, biodiversity loss, climate change and the increasing disconnection between people, land and the systems that support us.
We work towards a different way of relating to territory — one based on care, reciprocity, local knowledge and ecological limits.
Regeneration means restoring the conditions for life to flourish: healthy soils, diverse ecosystems, resilient landscapes, local food systems and communities that can care for and adapt to their territories.
Transform the systems
Key to ecological regeneration is:
- Downscaling systems that extract from land and communities
Moving away from models based on endless growth, extraction and exploitation, and towards systems shaped by ecological limits and the needs of living communities.
- Strengthening local and place-based systems
Supporting local food production, ecological knowledge, community action and shorter cycles of production, care and exchange.
- Ending sacrifice zones
Recognising that no landscape, community, species or ecosystem should be treated as disposable. The places that sustain us are not resources to be exhausted, but living systems to care for and restore.
Seed and tend the commons
ABOCA verds works towards a thriving diversity of living landscapes and community systems based on sufficiency, regeneration and reciprocity:
- A diversity of local ecosystems and ways of living with the land, each shaped by its territory, knowledge and communities.
- Land cared for by and with the community, sharing knowledge, skills, seeds, food, culture and the resources that make life possible.
- Systems that restore rather than deplete, nurturing people, biodiversity, soil, water, landscapes and the communities that depend on them.
Embed change into culture and economy
We aim for a shift in the ways we relate to land, resources and one another — influencing both culture and economy. ABOCA verds works to:
- Experiment with economies based on sufficiency and wellbeing
Developing local, regenerative practices that value care, resilience and ecological health over endless growth.
- Build networks of commons
Connecting land, food, knowledge and community initiatives to strengthen shared resources and collective forms of care.
- Share practices that can be adapted and replicated
Documenting what we learn and creating models that other communities can take, adapt and develop in their own territories.
